Your “Message of the Day” (MOTD) is the very first thing players see when browsing the Hytale multiplayer server list. Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Hytale MOTD?
“MOTD” stands for Message of the Day. It is the short, two-line public description that appears right under your server’s name in the multiplayer browser. It is primarily used to announce your server’s game modes (e.g., RPG, Minigames, Factions), current version, or special events.
How do color codes work?
Hytale, much like classic voxel games, uses the ampersand symbol (&) followed by a specific letter or number to apply formatting. For example, &c turns the following text red, while &l makes it bold. Our tool automatically writes these codes for you when you use the toolbar buttons.
What is a Hex Gradient?
A hex gradient is a modern formatting technique that smoothly transitions text from one color to another, letter by letter. Instead of using the basic 16 standard colors, it uses universal HTML hex codes (like &#FF5555). Our built-in Gradient Tool calculates the exact color transition for each letter automatically, saving you hours of manual formatting.
How do I apply the generated code to my server?
Once your preview looks perfect, click the “Copy MOTD Code” button.
- Open your server host panel or your FTP client.
- Find the line that says
motd=and paste your generated code after the equals sign. - Restart your server for the changes to take effect!
Is my custom text saved on your servers?
No. The Hytale MOTD Generator is a 100% client-side tool. This means all the typing, color generation, and preview rendering happens securely and instantly within your own web browser. We do not track or save your server descriptions.
