Hytale’s Creative Mode is one of the most anticipated aspects of the game, and for good reason: it offers complete freedom to build, experiment, and transform your world like never before. Whether you’re a passionate creator, a curious modder, or a player who simply enjoys letting their imagination run wild, Hytale Creative Mode opens the door to a universe where every idea can take shape in seconds. Between aerial exploration, terrain sculpting, advanced tools, and Hytale’s unique atmosphere, this mode offers a complete and incredibly immersive creative experience.
The video below unveils for the first time the new Creative Tools available during Early Access, and shows how fluid, powerful and fun creation in Hytale can be.
Now that you have a first glimpse of what Hytale Creative Mode allows, let’s discover each of its features in detail.
Scripted Brushes
In the video, I start by showcasing several scripted brushes built into Hytale. These brushes are customizable elements that any player or modder can create. Simply add them to your inventory to generate mountains, draw paths, create procedural ruins, or easily transform vast areas of terrain.
They can be modified in the Hytale Node Editor , allowing their behavior to be precisely adjusted and complete environments to be produced quickly.

Creative Mode Quick Settings Panel
The quick settings panel lets you instantly adjust essential Creative Mode parameters, such as flight speed, inertia, and movement smoothness. The panel dynamically adapts to the object you’re holding, making tool use exceptionally fluid and intuitive.
This is a real time saver for all creators.
Model Changer / NPC Browser
The Model Changer gives you access to over a hundred models that you can spawn, modify, or even embody. In the video, I choose to become a Corgi, because there’s nothing better than creating something while embodying your favorite animal.
This tool is extremely useful for machinima creators, RP servers, or any custom experiences created by the community.
Prefabs Browser / Prefabs Editor
The prefab browser allows you to easily view all available predefined structures. The prefab editor , on the other hand, opens a separate environment where you can load multiple prefabs into a blank world to modify them, study them, or choose the one that best fits your creation.
In my example, I simply use it to select a set of ruins to integrate into my environment.
Gluing Tool
The collage tool then allows me to precisely position the selected prefab. It enables me to move a structure with extreme precision, voxel by voxel, particularly using the arrow keys. This tool is essential for creators who want to place complex structures accurately.
Machinima Tool
The Machinima tool , represented by a camera icon, allows you to create cinematic sequences by adding keyframes, defining trajectories, speeds, and even custom behaviors. It offers a wide range of possibilities for creating truly cinematic scenes.
What you see in the video only shows a small part of it. This tool will undergo major updates after release to offer an even more complete experience.
Flight Modes
Flight in Hytale is fully customizable. You can adjust speed, choose between hovering and directional flight, modify inertia, and adapt the controls to your preferences.
Whether you like to stop abruptly or glide smoothly over the landscapes, Creative Mode adapts to your play style.
Shapes Brush
The shape brush allows you to instantly generate various geometric volumes, such as spheres, pyramids, cones, or even giant cubes. You can customize the materials, density, and thickness, or apply masks to achieve exactly the desired result.
This is a widely used tool for terraforming and the rapid creation of environments.
Selection Tool
The selection tool is one of the most powerful in Creative Mode. It allows you to select 3D areas and then perform actions such as saving prefabs, moving entire structures, regenerating areas, extruding blocks, or precisely integrating shapes.
After release, we plan to add freeform selection as well as a “magic wand” type tool to automatically select all blocks of the same material.
Tools: Ruler and Laser Pointer
The ruler allows you to measure distances and create guide lines to facilitate construction. The laser pointer , on the other hand, is used to clearly indicate areas or directions to your friends, which is very practical during a group project.
Help Menu
The Help menu is evolving rapidly. The current version makes it easy to find essential creative commands and explore the various features available in Creative Mode. This menu will continue to improve over time to provide even faster access to tools.
Inspired Creators Through Creative Tools
To illustrate the full potential of Creative Mode, here’s an impressive timelapse showcasing a castle built by experienced builders. An hour of creation is condensed into just a few minutes. It features intensive terraforming, the use of brushes, advanced techniques, and the integration of Machinima tools.
At the beginning of the video, the terrain is sculpted using creative brushes. The creator starts with a stone base, then refines the contours using the Smooth tool. Layers of materials are then applied to achieve a realistic appearance.
For the castle, selecting, copying, rotating, and pasting significantly speeds up construction. The brush, combined with masks, is used to replace certain blocks, and the finest details are added by hand.
The Future of Creative Mode
Hytale’s Creative Mode currently focuses on content creation, but a more accessible, playful, and less “editor-centric” experience is in development. This experience, separate from Adventure and Exploration modes, will emphasize intuitive creativity and the pure joy of interacting with the world.
Conclusion
Hytale’s Creative Mode offers an almost endless number of possibilities. We can’t wait to see what you build when you join the adventure.
