The journey toward the launch of Hytale continues to accelerate. As of March 5, 2026, the latest Pre-Release patch (Update 4, Part 3) has officially landed. This update isn’t just a collection of bug fixes; it introduces the highly anticipated Proximity Voice Chat and a complete rework of how players interact with the world’s resources.
Whether you’re a hardcore alchemist or a social butterfly, there is plenty to explore in this new build.
Spatial Immersion: Proximity Voice Chat is Live
The “Headline Feature” of this patch is undoubtedly the introduction of spatial, distance-attenuated voice chat. This system changes the social fabric of the game worlds, making interactions feel more organic and immersive.
- Dynamic Audio: The further you are from another player, the quieter they sound.
- Environmental Filters: If you find yourself chatting underwater or in a vast, echoing cavern, your voice will reflect those surroundings with real-time reverb and distortion.
- Animated Avatars: To bring interactions to life, your character’s mouth and body will now animate while you are speaking.
Safety Note: Voice chat is disabled by default. You can toggle it on in the Audio Settings or use the new .voice (client) and /voice (server) console commands.
The Potion Revolution: Strategy Over Spam
The developers have completely redesigned the Potion system, moving away from simple instant heals toward a more tactical “Heal over Time” (HoT) mechanic.
Health Potions now provide a burst of health immediately, followed by a secondary healing wave five seconds later. For example:
- Large Health Potions: Restore 35% instantly and another 55% after a short delay (90% total).
- Stack Sizes: These have been balanced—while smaller potions stack up to 10, the most powerful Large Potions occupy a full inventory slot (stack size of 1).
Alchemical Farming also gets a boost with the introduction of Crystal Fertilizer. High-tier crops like Blood Leaf and Azure Kelp now have unique growth requirements, making high-level farming a true endgame profession.
Fashion & Flora: New Styles and Gemstones
Expression is key in Orbis, and this update adds 7 new hairstyles specifically focusing on textured hair, including Big Afros, Puffy Twin Dreads, and Star Puffs. Several existing styles have also received visual polish.
For the adventurers, hunting Temple Golems just became significantly more rewarding. Each Golem now drops a specific gemstone corresponding to its element:
- Earth Golems: Emeralds
- Flame Golems: Rubies
- Frost Golems: Sapphires
- Thunder Golems: Topazes
Building the Future: Modding and Quality of Life
For the creators among us, the Asset Pack Save Browser is a game-changer. It finally allows you to choose exactly which asset pack to save your prefabs into, rather than defaulting to the server directory. The addition of ALT+T as a hotkey to warp between the Prefab Editor and your last visited world will also save builders countless hours.
Other small but impactful “Quality of Life” changes include:
- Interaction Hints: Hovering over a plant now shows a “Pick” prompt, while doors and fences show “Open.”
- Emote Navigation: You can now use the mouse wheel to scroll through your emote pages.
- Fireflies: Look out for more regular firefly spawns in the Zone 1 Plains biomes during the night!
