Here is a breakdown of the key changes and features introduced in this update.
🎧 A More Immersive Audio Experience
The most significant changes in this patch affect how players perceive the world of Orbis through sound. The introduction of Spatial Blending for stereo headphones marks a major improvement: sound now blends smoothly between ears rather than cutting sharply from left to right, reducing disorientation during gameplay.
Voice chat has also seen a substantial overhaul:
- Voice Quality: Improved capture quality and better resilience against packet loss during playback.
- PTT Toggle: A new “Push to Talk (Toggle)” input mode has been added, allowing players to switch their mic on or off with a single press rather than holding a key.
- Environmental Reverb: Specific reverb settings have been updated for the Caves, Forest, Mountain, and Savanna biomes to enhance atmospheric depth.
🌍 World Generation: Guaranteed Sewers and Performance
Exploration in Zone 4 cities is now more consistent. The development team has addressed edge cases in city masks, meaning Sewer dungeons are now 100% guaranteed to spawn in every city.
General world-generation improvements include:
- Monument Protection: Trees will no longer spawn on top of monuments, temples, or dungeons, preventing natural growth from clipping into or breaking hand-crafted structures.
- Memory Optimization: V2 Worldgen now uses significantly less memory when loading multiple prefabs, resulting in faster world creation and viewport refreshes.
🛠 Quality of Life and UI Updates
Several community-requested features have returned or been improved:
- The “C” Camera Return: Following player feedback, the “C” camera behavior has been reverted. Holding the key once again allows for 360-degree rotation without the character’s head tracking the camera lens.
- HUD Voice Icons: New icons in the bottom-left corner indicate the status of the microphone and speakers, making it clear when voice chat is enabled or muted.
- String Commands: Players can now use complex strings in commands (such as
/sayor/ban <reason>), allowing for multiple apostrophes and more detailed messaging.
🔧 Creative Tools and Bug Fixes
For creators and modders, the “Undo” shortcut is now functional even when no creative tool is currently equipped. Additionally, prefabs loaded from asset packs now correctly override internal game files, giving modders more control over the game’s assets.
Key technical fixes include:
- Mouse Sensitivity: A recurring bug where mouse sensitivity would get “stuck” at a low value after charging a mace or eating food has been resolved.
- Input Reliability: Fixes for instances where mouse input would become locked or stuck during specific interactions.
