In the world of survival games, there’s a problem we all know: a small update comes out, and suddenly, all your mods stop working. Frustrating, isn’t it?
Developer Slikey explained how they’re going to fix this, and there are good points and bad points.
Choose your version so as not to “break” your mods.
This is the best news: the arrival of the “Patchlines” .
- What is it? You will be able to choose to stay on an older version (for example Update 3) even if Update 4 has been released.
- Why is this cool? If your favorite mods haven’t been updated for the new version yet, you can keep playing on the old one without any problems. You switch when you’re ready.
This is a great demonstration of respect for the community that creates content.
The downside: Be careful with your hard drive
However, there is a small problem. A player asked if it was possible to download only the “small parts” that change between two versions (what are called Delta Updates ) to save space.
The answer is clear: it’s no.
- Why? Because creating a system like that requires too much work for the team compared to the number of people who would use it.
- The result: If you want to keep two versions of the game installed at the same time, it will take up twice as much space on your computer. Get your hard drives ready!
In summary
| What changes | It’s good ? |
| Names of the clear versions | 👍 Yes, that’s simpler. |
| Choose your version | 👍 Great for keeping your mods safe! |
| Place on the disk | 👎 It’s going to take up space. |
At Hytale.game they think it’s a good calculation: the studio prefers the game to be stable for mods, even if it takes up a few extra GB on our PCs.
