We aren’t just looking at a simple bug fix; this update lays the groundwork for how the world of Hytale will look and feel in the months to come. Here is everything you need to know about this avalanche of content.

Update 4 launches next week, March 26th! If you're running a server or building mods, this is your last pre-release window. Test your plugins and get everything ready for…
500 New Blocks: A Builder’s Paradise
That’s the headline figure: over 500 new blocks are entering the game. About half of them are already craftable in Survival mode, while the rest are reserved for your wildest creations in Creative mode.
Our Top Picks:
- Limestone and Slate: The textures have been completely overhauled. We especially love the new blue and white roof tiles—they give coastal builds an incredible Mediterranean vibe.
- Zinc: A unique material choice that brings a fresh color palette, perfect for breaking up the usual iron and copper look.
- Horizontal Pillars: Finally! Pillars can now be placed on their side, opening up infinite possibilities for rafters, supports, and intricate architectural details.
- Fence Junctions: T-junctions and cross-junctions for walls and fences are now seamless, ending those annoying visual gaps we’ve been dealing with until now.
Entering “Cybercity”: Hytale Goes Sci-Fi
This is the big surprise: a first subset of Sci-Fi blocks has arrived in Creative mode. We’re talking neon signs, futuristic glass, posters, and even a functional-looking arcade machine.
Why introduce Sci-Fi now? The goal is to provide a solid foundation for modders so they can start building urban or futuristic universes without waiting for the full release of more advanced tools. Special shout-out to the colored light sources and metal piping systems (Copper, Zinc, Bronze) that promise ultra-detailed industrial builds.
Nature & Farming: Apples and Frost
The vegetation system is getting a major polish.
- New Trees: The arrival of Apple, Camphor, and “Spiral” trees will add some much-needed variety to your orchards.
- Frostwood 2.0: The iconic ice tree has been entirely redesigned with a fresh look.
- Life Cycles: All trees now feature unique sapling textures and clearly defined growth stages. You can even craft these saplings directly at the Farmer’s Workbench.
UI & Tools: A Reimagined Creative Mode
The Creative Inventory has been completely reorganized so you don’t waste time scrolling. It’s now split into 5 thematic pages:
- Essential Tools (The most-used stuff).
- Specialized Tools.
- Brush Filters (For terraforming).
- Prefab Editing.
- Machinima Tools (For the aspiring filmmakers out there).
Another crucial technical addition: you can now disable fluid spreading in world settings. This is a godsend for anyone wanting to play with lava or water without accidentally flooding their entire map.
Why This Update is Vital: Simon’s Vision
Some players have been asking about the update pace since the game’s launch. Simon made it very clear: these 500 blocks aren’t there “just because.” They are the essential components for World Gen V2.
To use the studio’s analogy: Trying to generate a world without these blocks is like trying to build a house before you’ve designed the furniture or the windows. By adding these assets now, the team is preparing the engine for much richer and more complex world generation in the next major milestone.
Simon also reminded us that the studio is focused on long-term foundations. There’s no aggressive marketing push right now—just a commitment to building the “Final Hytale” brick by brick.
TL;DR: Coming March 26
- Release Date: Next Thursday.
- Content: 500 blocks, rock sets, Cybercity sets.
- Improvements: Synced audio, clearer Voice Chat icons, and massive crash fixes.
